Agriculture

Agriculture is the leading branch in the district. District agroindustrial complex includes 19 agricultural industrial cooperative societies and a public unitary agricultural enterprise. Public corporation “Drogichin district agricultural service” provides services to the agroindustrial complex.

The total area of the land tanure of the district farms at present time amounts to 81,7 thousand hectares, including 70,5 thousand hectares of farmland and 32,0 thousand hectares of arable land. Quality standard of farmland is equal to 29,3, arable land – 30,2. 16 farms are founded in the district. They are provided with 378 hectares of lands, including 308 hectares of arable land. There are 14 gardening associations and 14 market gardenings that use 123 and 143 hectares of land accordingly.

Since the beginning of the land reform (1991) 850 steads for house-building and for dwelling house services were provided. The total employment is 4,4 thousand people, average monthly wages in January – September made up 160 thousand roubles.

The density of cattle counting on 100 hectares amounts to 60 heads, including 20 cows, of pigs counting on 100 hectares of arable lands – 38 heads. On average each farm has 33 tractors, 18 autos and 7 grain harvesters. Recently the farms have bought modern grain- and feed harvesters, high powered tractors of national producers “MTS” of efficient production.

Production of the agricultural gross output for the period January–October in public sector amounts to 38,2 billion roubles or 114 per cent as compared with the previous year and taking into account the prediction index of 108-110 per cent. In total volume of agricultural products the products of plant cultivation make up 63 per cent and of cattle-breeding – 37 per cent. The growth rate of the products of plant cultivation increased by 26,8 per cent.

The gross production of grain in the district was 66889 tons taking into account the plan of 53400 tons (it amounts 125 per cent of the plan and 135 per cent as compared with the previous year ), the production of rape was 2724 tons taking into account the plan of 1200 tons. It increased by 1402 tons as compared with the previous year (2,3 times higher than plan and 2,3 times – than in 2003). The gross production of potatoes was more than 13 thousand tons (161 per cent to the amount of the previous year and 152 per cent to the plan). The crop capacity of 321 centner from hectare allows to recieve more than 47 thousand tons of white beet.

The plan of selling the grain to the state is fulfilled, the target of barley deliveries for the brewing trade to the state was overfulfilled by 1056 tons or 35 per cent, of rape – by 37 tons or 180 per cent. The amount of fibrewise sold rotted straw was within 400 tons against the plan of 370 tons. 35,5 thousand tons of milk or 111 per cent to the corresponding period of the previous year was produced. The average yield of milk on the expectation of one forage cow is 2552 kilogramme. (It's more than in 2003 by 236 kilogramme.)

The products of cattle growing amounts to 3,6 thousand tons or 114 per cent. Average daily weight increment owing to fattening and growing of cattle made up 400 gramme. It's by 48 gramme more than in previous year. Because of the decrease in pork production (of 799 tons or 33 per cent) there was a shortage in cattle-breeding products.

Public sector sold 31,5 thousand tons of milk during 10 month of the current year, which makes up 118 per cent to the level of previous year or by 4,9 thousand ton more. The population sold almost 10 thousand tons of milk. The annual plan of sale was fulfilled. It is more by 125 per cent or by 1940 tons then in the previous year.

In January-October it was sold 3,9 thousand tons of cattle, including 2,2 thousand tones to meat-packing factories. (It makes up 57 per cent of the total volume of sale, the plan is fulfilled to 54 per cent).

There are 94 animal farms in the district, including 68 dairy-farms. Three farms have reconstructed the material and technical basis in current year using modern technologies of stockkeeping. They are ГУСП “Livestock plant “Zakozelsky”” for 400 heads, СПК “Imeninsky” for 200 heads and Agricultural Production Complex “Bezdej-Agro” for 200 heads.

For the date of 01.11.2004 the livestock of cattle of agricultural enterprises of the district makes up 41940 heads, what is more by 1155 than in the same period of the previous year (103 per cent), including the livestock of cows of 14115 heads that is more by 651 heads (103 per cent). The safety of the cattle livestock has increased. The increase of calf was 12033 heads . It's more by 846 heads than in 2003 year. The birth rate of calfs of 100 cows and heifers amounts to 81 heads (plus 6 heads or 108 per cent).

20,1 centners of prepared feeds and 22,8 centners of subsidiary sources on the expectation of one head for the social cattle breeding was prepared for the winter barnyard period of 2004-2005 years. Thus 10,9 centners is given to 1 head per day. The supply of grassy feeds for wintering is 16 centners or 116 per cent to the required level.
